Talisker 25 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

Isle of Skye, SCOTLAND

Reduced from $499.00

  • ABV 45.8%

One of the most seductive, seamlessly integrated and softly textured peated expressions from any island distillery.

Since 2011, both Talisker's 30 and 25 year old expressions were bottled at 45.8% as opposed to natural strength. The new price point makes this all the more difficult to resist - elsewhere expect to pay $550+.

Tasting note: Bright gold. Brine and pepper lift gives way to peach and vanilla followed by hints of liquorice and smouldering cedar wood. Exposure emphasises the ripe orchard fruit aspect. Semi sweet and briny in the mouth with an oily peat and fruit fusion. Finish turns beeswaxy, mildly peppery and beautifully rounded off by sooty, creamy peat. Text book balance. Talisker at its most accessible? 45.8% Alc./Vol.

'The nose lulls you into thinking that this will be a dull affair. My God! It is anything but! Magical and enchanting'.
94 points - Jim Murray's Whisky Bible 2008.

Other reviews... More subtle and teasing. Not as much a knock-out punch on the finish like the Talisker 10 and 18, but rather more steady intense blows to the abdomen for many rounds. An aging Talisker, but still with many redeeming qualities. It is drier than its younger siblings, with less fruit and more of a stony texture, with dried spices and lingering leather notes. This whisky requires more patience and demands more concentration, but it is still rewarding to the seasoned aficionado (with some extra pocket change). Rating: 89 points
