Woodford Reserve Master's Collection Cherry Wood Smoked Barley Bourbon Whiskey (700ml)

Kentucky, UNITED STATES
$225. 00
Bottle
$2700.00 Dozen
ABV: 45.2%
This is the 12th release in Woodford's Master's Collection. Rather than using malted barley (as is typically used in Woodford Reserve), Master Distiller, Chris Morris selected malt that had been smoked with cherry wood during the kilning process. As with previous editions, allocations are low.

Other reviews... A bourbon made with cherrywood-smoked barley in the mash. When chocolate and cherries meet, instant joy can only be improved with roasted nuts sprinkled on top. That’s what happens here. It’s all there in the opening round, followed by toasted oak, tangerine, pumpkin latte, caramel-covered popcorn, and more cherries, from jam to pitted dark cherries and maraschino to cherry fried pie. If you love cherries, this is a must-have. 45.2% Alc./Vol.

...A very enjoyable sipping bourbon that fuses unique flavors together with surprisingly complex and satisfying results. The Woodford Master’s Collection is often the punching bag for many bourbon drinkers. Many people love to hate it, but a lot of that has to do with the seemingly random erratic swings of the series. Often it continually pushes the boundaries of whiskeys and even the definition of what it means to be a bourbon. As a result, the series sees drastic swings in quality and quite frankly, drinkability. There will certainly be some bourbon drinkers thrown off-balance by the taste of this bourbon, but not so much to completely fall down. In a market full of similar tasting bourbons and gimmick-fueled releases, there’s room for a well-made, outside-the-box bourbon to succeed. As Woodford probably knows more than most companies, that’s easier said than done. With Cherry Wood Smoked Barley they can put a check in the win column this year. - breakingbourbon.com
