Isle of Arran Distillers is one of the few remaining independent distilleries in Scotland, based at Lochranza on the Isle of Arran which lies off the West Coast between Ayrshire and Kintyre. The company was set up by Harold Currie, who was previously Managing Director of Chivas (Seagrams) and House of Campbell (Pernod Ricard). Only traditional methods are employed with wooden washbacks and copper stills designed to exacting specification. Non chill-filtered.

'This bottling of some of Arran's first casks entertains and delights. It won't be long before the world's malt connoisseurs add Arran to their list of must haves'.
- Jim Murray's Whisky Bible 2011

Tasting note: Gold colour with a pale straw hue. The malt-rich nose is semi sweet with hints of baked apple and nashi pear, but it's the barley that's expressing itself so purely here, and as it enters the mouth it's almost crunchy. Full flavours of crisp, off-dry malt and mixed cereals fill the mouth. A light toastiness is apparent followed by a subtle spiciness. Perfect balance. Long aftertaste of roasted barley, spice and liquorice bullets. Delicious malt. Like a spiced up muesli bar for grown ups.  46% Alc./Vol.

Other reviews... I think the blenders should tone down on raising any fruit profile and concentrate on the malt, which is one of the best in the business. 87 points - Jim Murray's Whisky Bible 2018
