Starward Tawny #2 Single Malt Australian Whisky (700ml)

After the sell-out release of Tawny #1 (awarded the Best Worldwide Whisky at the Hong Kong International Wine & Spirits Competition in 2020), Starward couldn’t resist a second bottling. Tawny #2 is already sold out at the Starward website, proving this to be one of their most popular lines to date. A single malt which has spent its entire maturation in tawny fortified octaves - both fresh tawny casks from the Yalumba winery as well as charred tawny casks from SA Cooperage - the distillers threw in some puncheon and hogshead barrels for fun, which allowed the vibrant tropical notes of Starward's spirit to come forward. Expect these, as well as dried raisins and toasted oak on the nose with complimentary flavours of brown sugar and rich dried fruits coming through on the palate. Could this be a rival to Nan’s fruit cake? Irresistibly so. Distilled in 2015 and bottled 2022 at 48% Alc./Vol.
