Stagg Junior Barrel Proof Straight Bourbon Whiskey (750ml)

George T. Stagg was one of the legendary craftsmen of Buffalo Trace Distillery, and is responsible for building the operation. In 2002, the distillery introduced George T. Stagg Bourbon which subsequently won numerous awards including World’s Best North American Whiskey, Number One Spirit in the World, and World Whiskey of the Year.

Buffalo Trace has now released a younger, more "accessible" version of their award winning bourbon, named "Stagg Junior". Each batch is a similarly unfettered, unfiltered, uncut, brawny effort that's bound to excite devotees of hardcore American wood aged spirits and is comprised of barrels aged roughly for eight and nine years.

Stagg struggles to reach the consistently high ratings it once did, Stagg Jr. has picked up its slack. A year later, Batch 14 reaches similar high marks, completely nailing what it means to be a “Stagg” bourbon.  [Batch #1] A whisky of staggering brinkmanship...this is the kind of Bourbon that sorts out the men from the boys, the women from the girls. Doesn't have quite as much covering sweetness of varying type and intensity to match the complexity found in the original Stagg. One that needs a very long time to get to the bottom of. 91.5 points
