Shene Estate Distillery Mackey Single Malt Australian Whisky (700ml) - Port Cask

Tasting note: [Release 4] x Port casks are a favourite of Mackey's and you can see why: This is an aroma saturate, big on plums and fresh-sliced Christmas pudding, with hints of dark chocolate and Turkish Delight. Just like the Apera release, the purity and texture are remarkable; the flavours repeat the aromas in mouthcoating fashion with the French oak contributing spice and grip. Long, but not quite as long as the Apera - though only by a margin. The port cask is beautifully expressed. 49% Alc./Vol. 850 bottles.

Other reviews... [Release 2 tasted] ...a voluptuous, plummy fruitiness combines with the heather honey.... Brilliant! A sublime delivery where the impact of the fruit is clean and telling... Uncharacteristically subtle for an Australian.

....A big malt taking few prisoners. Not quite up to the dizzy heights of previous bottlngs I have experienced from this distillery, the cut, though triple distilled, being a little looser.
