Tasting note: [15ml sample] The third release in Rare Cask Society's 'Whisky Art' series is the best yet. A collaboration with David Kernke at Shene Estate & Distillery, Tasmania, the whisky was drawn from 20 litre ex-port casks at a whopping 65% ABV. (Society Director, Cavan Wee commented the liquid was just too good to cut back). Even a thimble full is seductive - creamy aromatics meshing sweet, sultry malt with dried fruits and discreet Port pick up (think chocolate, musk and Turkish delight) follow in a mouth filling, beautifully balanced spirit, the taste falling somewhere between super premium Bourbon and extra old Spanish Brandy; Wine soaked plums, creamy vanillan oak and a prickle of heat round out the oily finish. Texture, length and poise in an all-natural whisky - this delivers the lot. 157 hand numbered bottles. 64.9% Alc./Vol. Very limited allocation.

As part of this collaboration, an exclusive auction of bottles autographed by artist, David Bromley will also be held to raise funds for bushfire relief in Australia. All profit from the auction will be donated to the Country Fire Authority (CFA) in support of the Bushfire Relief.
