Old Pulteney Noss Head Single Malt Scotch Whisky (1000ml)

Highlands, SCOTLAND
$119. 99
Bottle
$1439.88 Dozen
ABV: 46%
Another addition to Pulteney's travel retail 'Lighthouse Collection', launched in August 2013. This 100% Bourbon cask matured malt is named after the Noss Head lighthouse near Wick.

Tasting note: Pale straw gold. Initially fragrant with brine and water biscuits followed by dried citrus peel / semi-ripe apple or pear as well as hints of muesli and cocoa. Follows through with a fabulous citrus / ripe pear fruitiness; Orange sherbet? Slowly spices up. Mildly oily then crisp and fresh to finish with orange spice cake and peppery warmth lingering. Uncomplicated, lipsmacking malt. 46% Alc./Vol.

Other reviews... An apparent slight overuse of third and less sturdy second fill casks means the finale bitters out considerably. A shame, as the nose and delivery is about as fine a display of citrus maltiness as you'll find. 84 points - Jim Murray's Whisky Bible 2017

This expression has been matured entirely in bourbon casks and offers a fresh nose of ozone and lemon, becoming quite fragrant in time. More mouth-coating than might be expected, yet easy drinking, with milk chocolate, malt, tropical fruits, and an edge of sea salt. The finish is medium in length, with wood spices.
