Old Kempton Cask Strength Australian Single Malt Whisky (500ml)
$299. 00 Bottle
In September 2016, Redlands sowed their first crop of barley at their new home at Kempton, continuing a paddock-to-bottle philosophy. x Pinot Noir and fortified wine casks are typically employed with water transported from the Plenty River. Headed by Dean Jackson, the distillery remains one of a handful worldwide to grow and process its own barley.
NB: Alc./Vol. and cask type may vary from batch to batch.Tasting note: [Batch RD022 tasted from a 20ml sample] Matured in an x-Tokay cask. Amber gold. Thick legs. Honey, caramel fudge, Monte Carlo biscuits and toffee-apple aromas are followed by cedar wood, trace caraway and dark rye (?) Tasted undiluted this shows impressive balance with thick, almost chewy malt and an intense, mildly bittersweet attack. Creamier to finish with a slow motion burst of sweet spices and a late resurgence of sugars sustaining the aftertaste. 61.7% Alc./Vol.
