Laphroaig Cairdeas Fino Cask Finish Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml) - 2018 bottling

'Cairdeas', (Gaelic for friendship) was first offered circa 2009. It was a limited release from Laphroaig, produced from a blend of 'over aged' whiskies matured using Laphroaig's 'quarter cask' method. This 2018 release was initially matured in first fill bourbon casks and then Fino (dry) Sherry casks. It's a style of sherry that perfectly complements Laphroaig’s signature maritime flavours. Barrier filtered, not chill filtered. 51.8% Alc./Vol. One only.

Other reviews... The nose is nicely balanced with a soft peatiness and is fruity with notes of fresh peaches, red apples, honey, and brown sugar. The taste is thick and chewy, and starts off with dried fruits followed by the classic Laphroaig notes of peat smoke, sea salt, and a hint of creosote, along with touches of almond oil and honey in the background. The finish has lingering touches of smoke, sea salt, and dried fruits. Very nice. (June, 2018)
