$180. 00
Bottle
$2160.00 Dozen
ABV: 47.3%
Tasting note: The first release of its kind from a distillery which has quickly proven itself a dab hand when it comes to high peat malt and sherry maturation. 33 casks, nine of which were full-term Pedro Ximénez matured and 24 of which were finished in PX casks for 12-18 months make up this release. Unmistakably Islay, with all the peat and aromatic lift associated with the island's most emphatic, but just enough sherry adding a fruity plumpness and cocoa richness over the smoke. In the mouth, the PX has gently softened and rounded the otherwise assertive phenols adding dustings of cocoa and dried fruits to the finish. Ends like a Fisherman’s Friend: peppery, warming then surprisingly dry, ashy and long. PX never overtakes. Apart from Kilchoman, Lagavulin is probably the only real contender to reliably get 'peat and sweet' so right. 12,000 bottles are available worldwide. 47.3% Alc./Vol. Non chill filtered.
