Jim Beam are following a global trend in diversifying with novel bottlings (aka 'line extensions'), including a Signature release made from "brown rice". This is a completely different beast, being a "hybrid" or "fusion" whisky and at the time of release in 2015 was considered the first of its kind. Essentially a cross-country assemblage that's part bourbon and part lightly peated Scotch Single Malt whisky (reportedly Ardmore), it was aged in heavily charred ex-bourbon barrels.
