Hirsch Special Reserve Bourbon Whiskey (700ml)

A sample generously donated by a local Bourbon enthusiast. Not presently available in Australia. Bright copper/gold colour with a slightly glycerous appearance. Powerful aromas are initially rum ilke; dried banana and brown sugar; some subtle sweet corn and spice notes emerge beneath while liquorice bullets bring fresh overtones to the nose. The palate is concentrated and medium dry delivering a straightforward Bourbon profile, but nicely balanced with corn and vanilla flavours accompanied by a gentle spiciness. The oak comes to the fore in the finish with a drying influence. Concludes with a subtle caramel, spicy oak and old liquorice strap aftertaste. 46% Alc./Vol.
