A fascinating blend of bourbon, rye and peated single malt Scotch whiskies. Our 2023 tasting of 'Campfire' found a light bouquet that didn't present a definitive style, being neither particularly smokey or American whisky-like; if anything, it's more like a light Highlander. The soft, fruity entry is comparable to young Bourbon with its hints of peaches and dried banana; Those notes dovetail into a juicy mid-palate offering suggestions of dried fruit, pepper, vanilla and very faint smoke. Ending dry and toasty oak-like, there are hints of orange chocolate and a pleasant spiciness continuing into the aftertaste. 46% Alc./Vol.

[BATCH 13G03 tasted 2013] ...resonates smokey scotch with its vanilla-cream-peat that's lanolin and dried kelp-like with undertones of menthol freshness. 93 points

Other reviews... High West has changed the recipe for Campfire to include its own-make rye, along with sourced rye, bourbon, and peated malt whisky from Scotland. The nose is sweetly spiced and subtly smoky, with Lapsang souchong tea, kelp, beach bonfire, cigar box, orange peel, cinnamon, white pepper, and crème brûlée. Sharply herbal at first taste, it warms up to reveal orange oil, cherry cola, cough syrup, cigar wrapper, iced tea, roasted walnuts, caramel, and savory smoke. Chili heat on the finish is balanced by oak, dark chocolate, tobacco, and grilled apple. 90 points - whiskyadvocate.com

...Rich amber color. Bold aromas and flavors of peaty smoke, charred caramelized nuts, iodine, and grilled stone fruits with a supple, fruity-yet-dry medium-full body and a long, lingering warming smoky cigar, putty, campfire ember accented finish. Really smoky, different and fun. International Review of Spirits Award: Gold Medal
