Probably the most complex creation in Heartwood's oeuvre to date, The Beagle Batch 8 was created using six age statement whiskies drawn from twenty different casks from five Tasmanian distilleries - a logistical challenge in its own right! Dedicated to all Victorians with the front label facetiously illustrating human evolution to the second last step of social distancing and then lock-down, Tim Duckett adds “Ages vary from the bulk being 7 and 9 years of age but also contains small quantities of 2, 3, 4 and 5 years of age. The smaller quantities are used to enhance the flavour profile and the peat influence”. Casks that previously contained Sherry, Muscat, Port, peated malt, Bourbon and Tokay are in the mix.
