Great Southern Distillery Limeburners Barrel M29 Single Malt Whisky (700ml)

Great Southern Distillery, the first of its kind in Western Australia is located in the picturesque coastal town of Albany. Great Southern's whisky is marketed as 'Limeburners', named after an area nearby the distillery where lime burning took place in convict times.

Tasting note: Matured in an unspecified barrique and finished in an Australian x-Tokay cask. Pale gold colour. Sweet cereal and dried fruit aromatics are confused with unpleasant hessian bag and dank wood notes. The mouth feel is mildly prickly and slightly hot offering semi sweet cereal and honey flavours mingling with a sulphury note. Sweet toffee and caramel flavours emerge in the aftertaste making the whisky a little cloying and out of balance. Subtle anise fade. A wood finished whisky that never quite works. 43% Alc./Vol.
