As the only major American whiskey maker with its own cooperages, Brown-Forman is recognising the cooper's contribution to the company with this new label. In fact, it's the first new bourbon brand that Brown-Forman have added to its permanent lineup since Woodford Reserve - that was twenty years ago. The recipe has slightly more corn and slightly less rye than its popular Old Forester counterparts. Coopers’ Craft also employs a special beech and birch charcoal filter finishing process which the bourbon runs through after it's aged four to six years. The filtering is said to give it extra smoothness while bringing out the oaky notes.

Other reviews... You can actually smell the cooper toasting oak here, so the name carries real meaning. Then cotton candy, fresh-baked rye, vanilla, apple, and caramel come to life. A slight hint of grain becomes more expressive on the tongue, offering bread-like flavors with hints of brown sugar and honey. Short finish with a hint of grain. If you like light-bodied bourbons, this is right up your alley.

...A big claim of this bourbon is its unique filtration process. The beech and birch charcoal filter definitely imparts a noticeable layer of toasted oak to the flavor profile. That said, it doesn’t do anything to overcome the youthfulness of the bourbon, even though it’s a blend of four to six year old bourbons. What ultimately is presented, is a subpar bourbon that isn’t able to stand out from the crowded space it’s playing in and is easily forgotten. - breakingbourbon.com
