Bowmore Dawn Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

'Dawn' is Bowmore finished in Ruby Port casks which contribute 'Grapes, plums, fig-rolls and blackcurrant' to the flavour profile according to the distillers. We are informed that this bottling was discontinued in January 2007 so these stocks represent what may well be your only chance to taste this unusual malt.

Other reviews... Nose: Soft, gentle, sooty smokiness. Palate: Textured, lightly toffeeish. Fruity. Interplay of brown-sugar sweetness and tar-like dryness. Finish: Peaty, leafy, reedy. A certain sandy grittiness. Comment: Wood finishes are still fun and may recruit new enthusiasts for malt. Dawn, Dusk, Voyager...this is becoming confusing. Of those three (Port, Bordeaux and Port again), Dawn seems the lightest all-round. 8.3/10
