Benromach Special Edition Organic Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

Another entry into the rare 'Organic' Scotch Whisky category. The entire fermentation & distillation process used for this malt has been certified as fully organic by the UK's largest organic certification body, The Soil Association. Ian Urquhart, managing director of Gordon & MacPhail Ltd, says, “At Benromach we are always keen to experiment and try different things." Rumour has it that this massive malt was matured in virgin American oak! (If true, how did they get this past the SWA??)

Tasting note: Bright gold appearance. Sooty, oily at first. Barely sugar and a tocuh of lanolin. Gentle nose prickle. The palate delivers good concentration with barley sugar and peat accompanied by a warm spicy surge. Some dried fruit sweetness on the finish. Moderate persistence with the spices continuing along side hints of barley sugar. 43% Alc./Vol.
