Accidents are rarely what you would call a "happy" affair. Especially when 100 litres of very carefully made rye whisky ends up in the wrong cask. But this most happy of accidents occured at the esteemed Archie Rose distillery and was received with trepidatious applause. The fifth release under their "Trials and Exceptions" range, Whisky Gone A Rye was not their first happy accident. The distillery says to expect a heightened expression from the apera cask, showing good amounts of dark fruit and caramelised sugar. 52% Alc./Vol. Two only from a private collection.
