"...a whole different league, and more proof that Knockdhu’s a great distillery." - whiskyfun.com

A compelling colour, a serious age statement and a remarkable price feature on the latest instalment of this AnCnoc classic. On both the nose and palate, the 24 year old opens in nutty-malt territory before transitioning to fruit cake, prune, Seville orange and old leather. It has a well-aged Armagnac like-mouthfeel, being spicier, more linear and drier than the 18yo with some astringency tightening up and slightly curtailing the finish. Tasted on multiple occasions, this fully mature, slow-burn sherried gem takes hours to blossom so ample air contact is recommended. We also preferred it uncut. Adding water accentuates the tannic, woody notes. 46% Non chill filtered.

Other reviews... Big, broad shouldered malt which carries a lot of weight but hardly veers away from the massively fruity path. For sherry loving whisky drinkers everywhere. Non chill filtered. 94 points - Jim Murray's Whisky Bible 2021

...This veteran from Knockdhu Distillery has been aged in a combination of bourbon and sherry casks. The nose is rich and inviting, with apricots in syrup, marzipan, caramel, and new-mown hay. Voluptuous in the mouth, with tangy fruits, barley sugar, cinnamon, sherry, and ultimately coffee grounds. An oaky finish with cocoa powder, white pepper, and lemon juice. 90 points - whiskyadvocate.com, reviewed by: Gavin Smith (Summer 2020)

...Ah, an age statement! Glory and light! Colour: gold (the website says ‘vintage amber’ but I’ve never seen any amber that wasn’t very vintage, like 25mio years old). Nose: immediate complexity, this baby sends all NAS back to the whisky school. Perfect leafy, tobacco-ish start, then bitter oranges and walnut wine, then plasticine-y herbs and saps. There’s a lot of plasticine, actually, and I know some say that’s a flaw, but personally, I’m a sucker for plasticine in whisky. Mouth: starts a little bourbony, as if some re-racking in fresh oak had taken place, but it unfolds quite brilliantly, on smoky resins, beedies, teas, bitter oranges, leather, and leaves. The style is dry, which I find very nice. Finish: long, leafy, with more citrus this time, which goes well with the sawdust in the aftertaste. Some wood technology at work, I suppose (Campari, baby!) Comments: a whole different league, and more proof that Knockdhu’s a great distillery. 89 points - whiskyfun.com

"This distillery tends to release whiskies that are dense and creamy, and this rather mature dram is of course no exception. The sherry cask adds just the right touch of cashew and marmalade to classic toffee, caramel and vanilla. Warm spices ride it out into the finish, which is somewhat drying, but still satisfying. For a whisky of this maturity and depth, that price is a total steal." 92 points - distiller.com
