Adelphi Private Stock Blended Scotch Whisky (700ml)

This is Adelphi's 'original' blend, employing four grains combined with a high proportion of aged single malts from the west coast and Speyside. Chosen from a large selection of ‘blind’ samples, the final mix is matured in a solera-style vat, whereby, each time a quantity is drawn off for bottling, the vat is topped up with exactly the same blend of whiskies. This practice allows Adelphi to maintain a consistent flavour for each bottling (each batch contains no more than 12,000 bottles). We inquired further, but the actual composition is a closely guarded secret!

Tasting note: Flawless bright gold with a pale straw hue. Semi sweet aromas are pristine and sherry focussed with traces of peat. Brief aeration releases more dried fruits, along with vanilla and gently warming spices. Light to medium weight, super-soft on delivery with dilute butterscotch flavours and delicate, warming spices. Hints of peat become more salient towards the finish. Concludes squeaky clean and feather weight. Reminiscent of the recent Bruichladdich bottling, 'Laddie 10', likewise, this offers great buying value for your next slightly better-than-everyday-drinking dram. 40% Alc./Vol.
