2023 La Renjardiere Cotes du Rhone
A rich, succulent Cotes du Rhone amply endowed with black fruit and possessing ripe, slightly chewy tannins.
The Dupond family has a long and respected history in the wine industry, with roots in Burgundy and the Rhône Valley. In 1880, Joanny Dupond expanded the family’s vineyards from Beaujolais to the Côtes du Rhône by founding the La Renjardière vineyard just north of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. This 309-acre vineyard, previously an oak forest called La Renjarde, was transformed by Joanny, who personally planted each vine. Today, Hervé Dupond oversees La Renjardière, and he has broadened production by building strong partnerships with longtime wine growers and carefully selecting the best plots for quality.
A blend of Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre and Cinsault aged in cement tanks for a period of 10 months. Totally opaque black dark red colour with a dark red hue. Ripe black raspberry and black cherry sense dominate the nose with some liquorice scorched earth and peppered dried herb notes also chiming in. Rich and succulent, the amply endowed palate features black raspberry, dark to black cherry and liquorice fruits over a herbs de Provence infused backdrop of scorched earth and pepper. Ripe, slightly chewy tannins with a long, generously fruited conclusion.
