2014 Four Roses Small Batch Limited Edition Barrel Strength Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey (700ml)

The 2014 Four Roses Small Batch is technically a 9-year-old whiskey, but with material up to 13 years of age. Drawn from selected barrels as follows (the four letters refer to particular mash bills) OBSV at 13 years, OESV at 12 years, OBSF at 11 years, and OBSK at 9 years, 12,516 bottles were released. We've managed to snag a miniscule quantity for collectors and Four Roses completionists.

Other reviews... Crisp clove, cool mint, cinnamon, and cocoa mingle with glazed orange, honeyed vanilla, caramel, and maple syrup. Polished oak and leather on the finish balance the sweet, fruity notes. More oak and dried spice when compared to the 2013 release (our American Whiskey of the Year) and, while not quite reaching that caliber (it’s not quite as seamless, drinkable, or complex), it gets close. Very impressive.
