Strathearn was founded in 2013 by Tony Reeman-Clark and replaces Edradour as Scotland’s tiniest distillery. Housed in former farm buildings in Perthshire, close to Crieff in the Scottish Highlands, it's equipped with an 800 litre wash still and a spirit still with a 400 litre charge. Every whisky produced here is intended to be slightly different. Some will be double-distilled, some triple, using a mixture of peated and unpeated malt, as well as a variety of 50 litre casks, including sherry, rum and Bourbon. This is the first release of Strathearn, matured in European oak and ex-Sherry casks, offered at 46.6% without colouring or chill-filtration. Anticipate a soft and mellow style developing to rich red fruits and subtle sweetness from the sherry input. As of 2019, independent bottler Douglas Laing & Co acquired Strathearn, making it the company’s first distillery acquisition.
