2013 M.Chapoutier La Bernardine Chateauneuf du Pape

Deep dark red colour with some black tinges and a dark red hue. Pronounced aromatics of ripe black raspberries and black cherries arise from the glass with some liquorice, subtle incense, meatiness and spice also present. Medium to full bodied the palate is filled with generous ripe black raspberry, black cherry and liquorice flavours over some meaty earth like characters and a spicy finish. Richly textured mouthfeel with a very fine grained sturdily built tannin structure. Long spicy aftertaste of black raspberry, liquorice, black cherry, dried meats and earth.
