2012 Olivier Leflaive Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Abbaye de Morgeot

Burgundy, FRANCE
$130. 00
Bottle
$1560.00 Dozen
Closure: Cork

While much of the soil within Chassagne-Montrachet is better suited to red wine production, the best wines from the commune are whites planted on suitable hillside plots. Indeed, Chassagne-Montrachet is home to three Grand Cru vineyards including a share of the grandest of all, Montrachet.

Most of the area on the mid and upper slopes are classified as Premier Cru. Style can vary across each vineyard, but generally the wines are fruit rich and very complex, with hints of spice and flinty mineral notes. A classic White Burgundy profile.

Other Reviews....
An expressive white, offering aromas of lily and vanilla, followed by flavors of glazed apple and baking spices. Smooth and harmonious, presenting a lingering, tangy finish. Drink now through 2022.

Wine Spectator – Bruce Sanderson

The wine has so much structure and tension. It is wound up and tight, full of acidity as well as the potential for rich fruits. A steely texture powers up the concentration of this wine, which has a strongly toasty component at this stage. Drink from 2018.
