Other Reviews….

Normally a relatively lighter style of Pomerol, even though the terroir is situated strategically on the plateau of this appellation, the 2012 has a slightly denser color than one normally sees, along with more structure, richness and intensity. The complexity has yet to emerge, and the wine is somewhat monolithic and chunky, but there is potential underlying the levels of fruit and body. This medium to full-bodied, bigger-than-usual La Croix de Gay needs another several years of bottle age and should drink well for 15 years.

The 2012 La Croix de Gay comes across as a bigger, denser, more well-endowed claret than it has been in the past. The 2012 exhibits a nicely saturated dark ruby/plum/purple color along with plenty of sweet black cherry and black currant fruit judiciously touched by spicy oak and underbrush. Medium-bodied, soft and round with a long finish, it should drink well for 10-15 years.A parcel of this estate has been sold to the Rothschild-owned Chateau l’Evangile.

This is very well done with a mineral, chalk, and dark fruit character with tangy acidity. Full and structured with a solid core of fruit. Polished tannins.

Open-knit, with good energy, as the raspberry and steeped red currant fruit is pushed by roasted vanilla bean and fruitcake notes. Exhibits the vintage's telltale dusty thread through the middle.
