2011 The Whisky Cellar Private Cellars Selection "House Malt" Blended Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

The Whisky Cellar's “House Malt” is an ongoing series aiming to feature whiskies which characterise their region at an affordable price point. Distilled in 2011 and bottled in 2021, this '100 proof' edition was from a single first-fill oloroso sherry cask (#900177). Like the previous release, it's a teaspooned malt, however there's more mystery around this one as the region isn't disclosed. The aromas suggest ginger snaps, turmeric, hessian bags and hints of sulphur. Full bodied and rounded, the palate presents with a spicy edge balanced by intense, sweet malt and zesty peel, building towards the gingery finish. The distillate feels like it's on the heavy side, which might narrow down your guesses! Non chill filtered. 57.1 Alc./vol. 699 bottles produced.
