Tasting note: [15ml sample] Drawn from a Marsala cask, this is a style of Caol Ila you'll rarely find: Crushed pine shoots and low key phenols of an unexpectedly earthy, ashy variety greet the nose. Entry leads with juniper and citrus oils followed by dense, peat-soaked malt. Peppery, long and tactile. Delivers intensity and length. Being less overtly maritime than usual also makes this more than mainstream. 294 bottles at 59.2% Alc./Vol. Non chill filtered.
