In 2008, under the guidance of new owners and consultant Hubert de Bouard, La Pointe embarked on a radical shake-up of its viticultural holdings, installing major drainage works and uprooting Cabernet Sauvignon vines that were struggling in parts of the vineyard. The move was necessary, as La Pointe was one of those estates blessed with some great terroirs for the most part, but no one with the vision or the finances to reveal it.
Thankfully, the initial works paid off in rapid time : 2010 is literally the unveiling of a sleeping beauty. La Pointe has proven that despite its supposed disadvantage (compared to those on the Plateau of Pomerol), the vineyard is now able to rival prestigious neighbours such as Trotanoy and others from Pomerol's higher ground.

This superb medium to full bodied Bordeaux blend is produced from 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc and opens with an impressive opaque black crimson colour and a deep dark crimson black hue. Lifted aromas of ripe blackcurrant and a touch of dark mulberry are overlaid by some dusty cedar with subtle earth and spice end notes. Rich, perfectly ripened blackcurrant flavours totally engulf the palate followed by a touch of liquorice with underlying cedar, earth and spice. The rich fleshy fruit is perfectly counterpointed by a dry firm tannin structure. Excellent power with long persistent blackcurrant, earth, cedar and spice conclusion.
Cellar 8-10 years (2022-2024).
Alc 14.5%

Other Reviews…
This has power in reserve, but stays remarkably restrained for now, with a torrent of boysenberry, fig and raspberry fruit held in check by charcoal-studded grip and well-embedded acidity. The long, dense smoked apple wood finish should let this cruise nicely in the cellar. Best from 2015 through 2030.
