This relative new comer to the Bordeaux landscape was conceived in 1970 by Jean Eugene Borie of Ducru Beaucaiilou fame. It is an 18Ha block purchased from Grand Cru, Chateau Lagrange in the Lieu-Dit Lalande. Today the Estate comprises of 30Ha, 22 of which are under vine as one block, with 65% Cabernet, 25% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc. As the entry level offering to the Ducru Beaucaillou family, Bruno Borie steers the estate with the same integral approach, culling the unworthy barrels to the Bordeaux bulk negoce and reserving only the very best towards his labels.

Opaque black crimson red colour with deep dark crimson purple hue. The nose exhibits perfumed violet top notes followed by mulberry, cigar box and spice aromas. Medium weight and elegant the palate possesses flavours of blackcurrant and mulberry which are overlaid by cigar box characters finishing with some spice on the back palate. Dryish finish with solid beautifully integrated fine grained tannins. Excellent length with long blackcurrant, cigar box and spice aftertaste.
Cellar 6-8 years (2020-2022).
Alc 14.0%

Other Reviews...
Currants and dark fruits with hints of licorice. Full and silky with ripe tannins and berry. Cigar tobacco and berry. Sweet tobacco. This is a wine that shows serious depth of fruit and refined tannins. Better in 2016.

Solid, with a very juicy core of lightly mulled plum and blackberry fruit, a polished apple wood note that runs along the edges and a solid, gravel-tinged finish. Sports nice terroir and leaves a mouthwatering feel on the finish. Best from 2015 through 2027.
