Sweet wine finishes seem to be all the rage with indie bottlers of late. Happily, they tend to work quite well so long as the secondary maturation isn't overdone. Mostly matured in American oak, this one was completed in a cask that previously held sweet white wine from St Croix Du Mont, a Bordeaux appellation near Sauternes. Grape, fig, acacia, honeysuckle, apricot, and peach are its characteristic aromas and flavours which, at least according to the bottler's notes, are nicely captured in this single cask Glen Elgin.  From an outturn of 276 bottles, we have less than a dozen on offer.

Notes from the bottler: "Nose: Honeysuckle and apricots. Sweet fruits with summer flowers. Palate: Soft caramel and dried fruits with spices. Complex with touches of malty ginger and honey." 55% Alc./Vol. Non chill filtered.
