2009 Chateau Lilian Ladouys
Lilian Ladouys is one of the recent success stories of Saint-Estephe. The full potential of this long overlooked 47 Ha estate is now being unleashed by the same A-team in charge of the revival of Chateau Belle-Vue (Haut-Medoc), with Vincent Bache-Gabrielsen charting the technical direction. Since its acquisition in 2008, it's only taken a couple of years for Lilian Ladouys to draw internationl attention, not only for the dramatic quality improvements and soaring ratings, but also for its very modest pricing in the often inflated 2009 Primeurs market. With their vineyards but a stone’s throw from Cos d'Estournel, the consensus is that the 2009 Lilian ladouys is a precursor for more great things to come.
Impressive totally opaque black purple colour with deep dark purple red hue. The nose possesses excellent intensity with ripe blackcurrant and black cherry scents followed by some toasty earthy cedar and spice. Full bodied, rich and quite fleshy the palate boasts superb concentration with totally mouthfilling flavours of ripe
blackcurrant and black cherry with some underlying toasty oak, subtle earth and spice. Solid, firmish but perfectly balanced tannin structure. Superb depth with long ripe blackcurrant, black cherry, earthy cedar and spice aftertaste.
Cellar 5-8 years (2018-2021).
Alc 14.0%
Other Reviews….
"Dark color, with a spiced nose of cloves and
cardamom. Tar too. Full-bodied, with round and velvety tannins and a rich, fruity aftertaste.
Gorgeous young wine."
