Juicy and fruity to the max!

Tasting note: First matured in American oak followed by an additional ageing in sherry wood. Youthful, but nicely sherried aromas of chocolate box, dried fruits and whiffs of straw bale. The initially intense, oily-fruity-malt rush slides into banana cake then gobstopper. Simple but delicious, and with a mouthfeel that's a delight. One of the better Dufftowns to date. 56% Alc./vol. 354 bottles Non chill filtered.

The sixth distillery to be constructed in the region, Dufftown distillery was founded on Speyside in 1896 and still draws its water from the same spring. The distillery was bought by Arthur Bell & Sons Ltd in 1933, along with Blair Athol, then subsequently purchased by Guinness PLC in 1985. Now part of the Diageo group, official Macduff bottlings have been sparse, but have included the “Singleton of Dufftown”, as well as a release that was part of Diageo’s Flora and Fauna range. In fact, as little as 3% of Dufftown's output is marketed as single malt, with the vast majority reserved for Arthur Bell's famous blend.
