2007 Adelphi Glenrothes 7 Year Old Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

Speyside, Highlands, SCOTLAND
$299. 00
Bottle
$3588.00 Dozen
ABV: 67.6%

Another astonishing young Glenrothes from Adelphi, well-mature beyond its years.
Sherryheads do not hesitate!

Matured in first-fill sherry casks for 7 years.  This is a great example of what a truly active cask can impart in such a short amount of time, even in Scotland!   We almost said no to a previous sister cask of an Adelphi Glenrothes bottling whilst contemplating the price, never again. Age means nothing, maturity is everything.

Tasting note: The deep copper-pot colour is remarkably advanced. Powerful, prickly opening sniffs are marred by rubber but shows underlying promise with heavy malt, pepper and manuka honey also evident. Extended air contact adds maple syrup, Anzac biscuit and dense vanilla however the rubbery blemish never completely blows off. Achingly intense and bitter sweet; tongue nipping, numbing spices almost negate the flavour. Massive length. A tad bitter to finish with hints of rubber repeating and slightly off kilter balance. Enormous whisky. One for the decanter if you want to reveal all the sweet spots, and bound to be controversial. 67.6% Alc./Vol.
