2006 Glendronach Single Cask No. 3343 Pedro Ximenez Puncheon Cask Strength 13 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

Tasting note: [15ml sample] Polished copper in colour. Leaps out of the glass with aromas of fruit cake, old leather, peppercorns, cedary oak and cinnamon. Second pass sweetens with caramel fudge and brittle toffee. A powerful attack as the sugars and oak are held in controlled tension. It's sherry matured, but flavour-wise, reminds you more of high-end middle-aged Bourbon. Slight bitterness creeps in at the finish, otherwise, an invigorating young malt with a massive personality. Arguably the bargain of the batch. 56.3% Alc./Vol. 581 bottles.
