2001 Glenrothes Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

Glenrothes Vintage malts are the product of a set of casks that have been handpicked by the Malt Master from a particular year’s distillation and judged to be at the peak of possible perfection. Vintage selections account for a little more than 2% of the distillery’s production. This release, selected "...from a variety of casks to deliver soft but stimulating and conversational properties" is also marked by a minor packaging change. It was distilled in 2001 and bottled in 2013.

Tasting note: Amber / burnished copper in appearance. Opens with suggestions of ginger bread, cocoa, vanilla and hints of hay. Spicy, gently tingly profile carries restrained flavours of dark chocolate, vanilla and a vague, tart fruitiness; finishes firm, dry, relatively lean and peppery with average length. 43% Alc./Vol.

Other reviews... Pale amber color. Rich aromas of roasted pecans, salted caramel, and banana cake with a supple, dry-yet-fruity medium-to-full body and a long, cinnamon creme brulee, honeyed grain, and dried tropical fruit finish. Great vitality of flavor and structure; try with cigars.
