Tasting note: A malt from "what is arguably the most famous distillery in Speyside", lovingly matured in a first fill oloroso sherry butt. A tea spoon of single malt from another distillery has been added, so it's classified as a 'blended malt' rather than a single. Deep burnished copper in colour, conjuring aromas and flavours of prunes, dried apricots, cocoa, ginger biscuits and cinnamon, this has the silky, lithe, understated feel of middle aged Macallan or older Glenfarclas. Whisps of sulphur, allspice, ginger cake and peel freshness add to the finish. Very good - and quite unusual to find indies like this. The provenance is open for debate. 43.2% Alc./Vol. Non chill filtered. 330 bottles.
