Part of the "Flower and Bird" series, cask #7608 was distilled in 2000 and matured for at least eighteen years before being bottled in 2018. Reports have it we're getting near the final stocks of Karuizawa. It's uncertain how many more batches are to come. Anything earlier is already fetching a considerable premium. The Karuizawa distillery was opened in 1955 in Miyota, near Mt. Asama – an active volcano. Since ceasing production in 2000, it's increasingly rare whiskies have topped the auction charts for returns in the Japanese segment.
