Karuizawa are well known among collectors with many of their whiskies receiving international acclaim. Just as remarkable are the returns Karuizawa's have yielded since the distillery ceased production in 2000. Reports have it that around 300 single casks were produced - this one was distilled in 1999 and bottled in 2017 from sherry cask No. 899, featuring the ukiyo-e painting “A Young Girl Looking Through a Nozoki-megane” by Kitagawa Utamaro in 1792. It's one of a series of 'Miyako Odori Geisha' labels, named after a Spring time dance performed by Geisha in Kyoto when the cherry blossoms are in bloom. Eight bottles make up the series, each from 1999 or 2000 distillations. From an outturn of 478 bottles we have one only. 60.6% Alc./Vol.
