Tasting note: A serious age statement from what is one of only three remaining Lowland distilleries (the others are Bladnoch and Glenkinchie). Independent Auchentoshans aren't often encountered beyond twenty years old. This one's from a refill butt. It's triple distilled, clean and fruity distillate, although the nose is slightly muted. Juicy, full and rounded with medium sweet malt and lively spices fanning out at the finish. Adding minimal water accents pineapple pudding. A lot to like about this deliciously simple whisky. Tiny outturn of just 132 bottles. 56% Alc./Vol. Non chill filtered. Very limited stocks.
