Tasting note: [20ml sample] More single casks of Macallan are making their way onto the indie market, typically as tea-spooned malts so the distillery can't be identified on the label. If this is Macallan (as some have rumoured), it would have to be one of the more unusual expressions to date: 23 years old, then finished in an ex-calvados cask. The nose is shy (oak shavings and oatmeal biscuits), but the palate shows lovely purity with a juicy middle, lively spices and even a lick of Calvados. Ends lipsmacking and medium long. Very limited stocks from a 294 bottle outturn. 51.5% Alc./Vol. Non chill filtered.
