1997 Cadenheads Small Batch Glenrothes 20 Year Old Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

Two Glenrothes in one release! This one's the darker in colour of the two. Distilled in 1997 and bottled in 2018 after maturation in three Butts. Another relatively large outturn for Cadenheads, resulting in 1524 bottles. Sounds like some Sherry input here. According to the bottlers, expect aromas of peanut butter, figs and treacle with a chewy palate that includes orange zest, juicy sultanas and hints of ginger and brown sugar. 56.2% Alc./Vol.

Going strong since 1878, more recently the Glenrothes brand (not the distillery) was sold to UK wine merchants, Berry Bros & Rudd, in exchange for ownership of Cuttysark blended whisky. As of 2017, the Edrington group bought the Glenrothes brand back from Berry Bros., embarking on a more aggressive international marketing campaign.
