1997 Bunnahabhain 22 Year Old Moine PX Finish Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)
$650. 00 Bottle
Since the late 1990s, peaty Bunnahabhains have been steadily released under the 'Moine’ label (which means peat in Gaelic). Some commentators have noted that the series needs some bigger age statements, as the distillate seems to require more time than many, but that could be said of Bunnah’ in general. At over two decades old, here’s what should be another solid example of a peated run. Distilled on the 5th of September 1997, it's actually the year Bunnahabhain began distilling peated malts after a significant hiatus. The majority of the maturation took place in x-bourbon casks before being transferred to ex-Pedro Ximinez Sherry casks on the 16th of May 2016 for a lengthy four year finishing. The richness of smoke and pepper is matched by sweetly beguiling flavours of vanilla, figs, roasted nuts and caramel. Comes beautifully housed in a large presentation case. Non chill filtered. 50% Alc./Vol. 1661 bottles produced.
