1985 Adelphi Longmorn 28 Year Old Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

A new extra aged Longmorn release from one of Scotland's top independent bottlers, Adelphi. This was distilled in 1985 and bottled in 2014. Only 247 bottles are available.

Tasting note: Brilliant burnished gold. Initial inhalations yield suggestions of gobstopper and light confectionary notes. Several minutes into the bouquet finds hints of mango and unripe cantaloupe. The final pass after 5 minutes in the glass doesn't find the nose changed in any dramatic way. Stunning balance in the honey / vanilla and toasty cereal delivery which is perfectly counterpointed by a mildly tannic finish and lengthy surge of spice. Perhaps the gentlest dose of smoke in the fade. Eminently drinkable at natural strength - in fact, quite understated by the distillery's usual standards. 50.6% Alc.Vol.
