The oldest working distillery in the highlands (est 1786), the world-famous Strathisla is the foundation of the Chivas Regal blends. In order to secure supply of this exceptional malt whisky, Chivas Brothers purchased the operation in 1950.
Presently, the distillery employs unpeated barley and matures mainly in refill American oak hogsheads, some first fill. Independent bottlings have been rare, most coming from Gordon & Macphail, and mostly of considerable age. This edition was distilled in 1967 and bottled in 2004. 40% Alc./Vol.
