"The very latest bottlings have been astonishing...a glass of something honeyed and dazzling awaits!"
95.5 points - Jim Murray's 2014 Whisky Bible

Standing stones, Neolithic settlements, a Viking Cathedral, Norse sagas – all attest to Orkney’s flourishing ancient cultures. The present day Orcadians apply the same virtues of craftsmanship and patience to ensure the quality of the “Long & Gold” is maintained. Today’s local drinkers of Highland Park are in all probability direct descendents of the men who built the Neolithic ring of Brodgar, a mysterious circle of standing stones. Something to ponder whilst savouring Highland Parks rich aroma and virtuosity of honeyed flavours, all enveloped in its subtle, smoky blanket.

At 18 years of age, Highland Park possesses a level of finesse and grandeur offered by few other malts, building on the world-class reputation already enjoyed by their 12 Year Old. The bouquet, once described as an 'aromatic miracle' displays a rich top note of aromatic smoke that follows onto the rich, full flavoured palate, marrying with honey and peat then finishing soft, round and extremely long.

Other reviews... Copper. Rich roasted walnuts, caramel and spice on the nose. A soft, satiny entry leads to a dryish full-bodied palate of dried fruits, burnt caramel, peat, and heather. Finishes with a long fade of peat and honey with choice wood spice notes in support. Fantastically balanced. Rating: 95 points (Exceptional) - www.tastings.com

Nose: An empty honey jar which once held peaty embers. An enormous nose which seems to improve with each bottle I sample, though the characterstic salted butter is always present. Fabulous. Palate: Beautifully sweet: even sweeter than the 12 year old with peat on the back of the palate. Beautifully chewy, oily and substantial. Finish: Still peaty and now a little oaky. Cocoa and toffee cream compexity. Comment: This has to be my favourite Highland Park of them all, and each new bottle I taste (this was my sixth sample) seems to underline the overall class and consistency of this distillery. Brilliant..
