Glendronach Octaves 20 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

A very limited release with only 371 bottles produced. Master distiller Billy Walker has selected whiskies distilled in September 1994 held in regular sherry casks, then finished them in PX octaves for a couple of months.

"Octave casks" are made from staves of a previously used sherry butt and are approximately one-eighth the size of a butt or approximately 100 litres (the same size used to mature Yalumba's famous Octavius Shiraz). Though these baby barrels can be used to ameliorate sub standard spirit, a smaller cask also allows for more interaction between the wood and the spirit, giving the whisky a greater depth of flavour and aroma in a shorter period of time. In this case, the result is a rare combination of heavyweight sherry and robust, rich Highland malt characteristics.

Each bottle is individually numbered by hand. 48% Alc./Vol.
