Rich with a luscious oily like texture the palate boasts mouthfilling flavours of lychee and musk overlaying a touch of honeysuckle with a very spicy finish. Excellent concentration. Medium dry with long persistent lychee, musk and spice aftertaste.

Finishes dry with crisp citrusy acidity leading into an energised finish.

Stuart Pigott - jamessuckling.comThe 2022er Bernkasteler Lay Riesling Auslese GK was made from shriveled rather than botrytized fruit and was fermented down to noble-sweet levels of residual sugar. It offers a beautifully restrained and almost non-saying nose at first, yet quickly shows superbly complex and captivating notes of fine exotic elements (mango, guava, passion fruit), smoke, whipped almond cream, yellow flowers, orange blossom, acacia, and cassis. The wine proves superbly refined and elegant on the layered and comparatively light-weighted palate. It gains presence and intensity as it unfolds and leaves a magnificent elegant and gorgeously creamy touch in the hugely long finish. What a splendid wine!

Jean Fisch and David Rayer - Mosel Fine WinesThe 2022 Riesling Bernkasteler Lay Auslese Goldkapsel was made with a small portion of botrytis, around 30%. Candied Mirabelle and white peach are still tempered by aromatic citrus, resulting in a picture of elegance, full of fruit but also of serene, smooth, tempered ripeness that just shimmers with Mirabelle, peach, Meyer lemon and supple, tempered, zesty, balanced sweetness. Botrytis is only evident in concentration and a touch of honey on the finish. (Sweet). Drink: 2025-2050.

2019 COS Zibibbo in PithosSicily, ITALY$64. 99Bottle$779.88 DozenABV: 12%Closure: CorkAzienda Agricola COS was founded in 1980 in the town of Vittoria, located in the southeast of Sicily. Championing indigenous grape varietals since their inception, today they are one of the finest producers on the island.
Zibibbo is the local name for Muscat of Alexandria, also known as Moscato d'Alessandria in other parts of Italy. The fruit is grown 12 meters above sea level in Marsala, the Western part of Sicily. Zibibbo in Pithos is a skin fermented white wine, which is aged for an extended period in traditional terracotta amphora vessels. Despite this extended period of skin maceration, the wine remains fresh and vibrant, and does not have the orange hue of other skin fermented white wines. The skin maceration in amphora has provided the wine with a greater sense of complexity and a wonderful textural feeling on the palate.

The 2019 Zibibbo in Pithos is exotic and wickedly fresh, as musky dried apricot and tangerine gives way to minty herbs and hints of wet concrete. It’s deeply textural, almost glycerol-like in feel, with masses of inner florals resonating over notes of ripe melon and hints of kiwi, all kept in check by brisk acidity. This is so incredibly fresh and lifted but also lightly structured, tapering off like taking that first bite of a perfectly ripe yellow apple. What a fun wine. The Zibibbo in Pithos is a dry Muscat of Alexandria (known on Etna as Zibibbo) that’s vinified in amphora. Drink 2022 - 2025.
